Educating Nurses for the Future
The Health and Medicine Faculty at James Cook University, in partnership with the Mater Mackay are proud to announce the launch of our Bachelor of Nursing Science (Pre- Registration) in Mackay.
Our Nursing program is modern and oriented towards educating health professionals for a fast paced, rapidly changing health care system.
This world-class degree will develop a local workforce to serve local healthcare needs but will also allow graduates to travel the world. At JCU we aim to fill the gap in healthcare services in regional, rural and remote locations. Our graduates have a proven history of staying where they are trained and giving back to their communities.
Nurses truly are the lifeblood of any community, providing physical, mental and emotional care to patients from birth to old age. Wherever you go in the world you will always find nurses at the heart of social health and wellbeing.
A Bachelor of Nursing Science from JCU gives you a strong foothold in one of the world’s high demand professions — all with a unique regional focus that you will not find anywhere else in Australia.
A healthy choice of career options
Nursing opens many doors to exciting and varied careers. With your specialist understanding of contemporary nursing practice, you will be highly sought after nationally and in regional northern and central Queensland too. Our graduates have the choice of working in:
public and private health services
general medical practices
occupational health units
non-government relief agencies.
These are just a few of the options available to a JCU graduate.
JCU nursing graduates can register with the professional body, the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. They can then work in Australia and in many countries overseas.
