Ladies Win at Home!

A night of firsts - The JCU Cairns Football Club’s Ladies had their first ever win and it was their first game at home at JCU Smithfield. The score was 3-2 against the Tablelands

The game started on a positive note for JCU with the Ladies nearly going ahead in the first minute of the game. Then the Tablelands got the upper hand in the first half.

When the JCU Ladies attacked the final ball was often causing problems for the strikers, and asking too much.

This all changed in the second half. The Ladies came out 2 goals down and turned the game around.

The first JCU goal was a great strike that left the Tablelands goalie with no chance of saving. The equaliser and the winner came from inside the box.

The Tablelands tried to come back but the Ladies were too strong. The cheers for the Ladies went long into the evening, and it was a great send-off for the team members who are returning to their home countries over the next couple of weeks.
