How do people perceive health threats, illness and life events?

This is the question under investigation by a team of JCU researchers who are trying to identify the factors that contribute to perceptions about illness. The researchers are particularly interested in the amount of control people feel they have when faced with a health threat or significant life event.

The way in which people perceive and understand illness is central to the way health prevention strategies are promoted in the wider community. Outcomes of this research may be used to inform such strategies.
