Unity in Diversity International Conference
The Townsville Intercultural Centre will be hosting the fifth annual Unity in Diversity Conference on the theme of Transition for Change on the 16 and the 17 of August 2012 at Rydges Southbank Townsville Hotel and Convention Centre.
Many prominent scholars and thinkers will engage the audience in discussions on the effects of change on children, adults, culture, environment and other susceptible domains. Furthermore, certain topics such as, ‘Deconstruction of the idea of personal success within the context of ecological, economic and war related changes’, ‘Health and well-being in culturally diverse and indigenous communities’, ‘The role of media in influencing social change’, and other such themes will be discussed during the conference.
Senator the Hon Kate Lundy (Minister for Multicultural Affairs), Dr Helen Szoke (Race Discrimination Commissioner), Dr Andrew Jakubowicz, Dr Wendi Li, Mr Umesh Chandra and Dr Farvardin Daliri are some of the distinguished speakers at this year’s conference.
The conference will also run sessions on prevalent discourses on cultural diversity and the challenges of inter-ethnic communal harmony. The payment for the conference fee is tax-deductible and institutions can also avail themselves of group discounts.
