What is an ePortfolio?
An ePortfolio is a digital collection of information, evidence and examples of your interests, skills and achievements and your reflections on these over time.
How does it work?
In an ePortfolio you can record, reflect on and evaluate your experiences across a wide range of activities at university, in the workplace and in the community. You can then build presentations for fellow students, lecturers or prospective employers which demonstrate your skills and achievements.
Why should I use it?
Building an ePortfolio helps develop your self-understanding and assists you in gaining employment upon graduation. To effectively market yourself to employers you need to comprehend the skills and experiences that you have gained whilst undertaking your studies.
The ePortfolio will assist you in managing your learning experiences so you can access examples of your learning activities to enhance your job and career opportunities.
Which ePortfolio program can I access?
You may be required to complete an ePortfolio as part of your assessment or teaching and learning activities, or you may wish to build an ePortfolio for your own use.
There are two programs currently being used in JCU, CareerHub and Pebblepad (the latter is currently being trialled at JCU) which both have the facility to build an ePortfolio in it. Therefore, please check with your lecturer or Faculty which one they want you to use, if completing for assessment purposes.
How do I get started?
To start your CareerHub ePortfolio, log onto CareerHub and access ‘My JCU ePortfolio’. To start using Pebblepad you will need to seek further advice from your lecturer or Faculty.
