This course is aimed at advancing the skills of already qualified teachers, enabling them to move between the different areas of teaching or build on their existing skills and areas of expertise.
By staying abreast of new teaching techniques and developments students are able to add to their already extensive knowledge, ultimately advancing their careers.
Online or on campus
Students at James Cook University have the option of either studying online or on campus.
Completing the course online allows you to manage study around your other commitments, plus study where and when it suits you.
Studying on campus gives you face-to-face access to lecturers and the opportunity to experience a university environment.
You have a Blue Card (a working with children check issued by the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian) before starting professional placements in a school.
This course prepares graduates to move into more senior positions within schools or to move into areas within the education sector that are experiencing a skills shortage.
It also qualifies graduates to move between early childhood, primary and secondary teaching areas.
