The International Council of Nurses defines nursing as a profession that “encompasses autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well, and in all settings” (2010).

They work in the community, industry, health care agencies and for a vast range of employers which, in addition to hospitals and health services, can include defence forces, non-government agencies, government departments and community organisations.

Professional Accreditation

JCU nursing graduates are eligible to register with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMC) through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
