A far northern focus
Social scientists examine health trends and social trends in an effort to improve public health.
Our Tropical Health and Society major has a specific focus on health trends in the tropics and as such is a relevant program for those studying in and hoping for a career in the far north and the Asia-Pacific region.
What you will learn
This new course draws on international and domestic content and is complemented by fieldwork throughout northern Queensland.
The program’s multidisciplinary approach includes social welfare issues, socio-economic and cultural factors as well as research skills, health policy and public health.
Staff teaching Tropical Health and Society subjects are prominent researchers and academics. You will benefit from the university’s strong research presence in northern Queensland’s health and welfare sectors.
