Biomedical and Molecular Science courses
A range of cutting-edge courses in the medical sciences is available at JCU Townsville. Graduates will have the skills and practical experience to pursue careers in, for example, medical laboratory science, biotechnology industries, medical research and the pharmaceutical and food industries.
The courses are offered through three JCU schools: Pharmacy and Molecular Sciences, Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences, and Science and Engineering.
The schools have modern, well-equipped teaching laboratories, strong research profiles and active relationships with Queensland Health and related medical agencies. Research units include the Comparative Genomics Centre, Australian Institute of Tropical Medicine, Institute of Tropical Medical Laboratory Science and the Advanced Analytical Centre.
Some specialisations are available in both the Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences and the Bachelor of Science. Selecting your degree will depend on your preferred career path, and you should consult with a JCU academic adviser. Generally, a Bachelor of Biomedical Science or Bachelor of Science with Honours is the best pathway to research studies for careers in medical research.
