Dental Surgery courses
In 2007 JCU was successful in obtaining federal government funding to establish a new dental school in Cairns, and admitted its first dentistry students in 2009.
The Faculty of Medicine, Health and Molecular Sciences offers a comprehensive suite of health science degrees including medicine, pharmacy, veterinary science, physiotherapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy.
The Faculty’s courses emphasise health practice for rural, remote and Indigenous communities. While the dental program will prepare graduates for careers in both metropolitan and regional areas, it aims to encourage more graduates to work in rural and remote areas, and to address the shortage of dentists in northern Australia.
