Aquaculture and Tropical Agriculture
The tropics can make a significant contribution to providing sustainable food and natural product resources for our country and for export.
Aquaculture is the world's fastest growing primary industry and supplies more than 40% of the world's fish supply for direct human consumption. Sustainable aquaculture is essential in preventing overharvest of wild populations and habitat destruction.
Agriculture is one of Australia’s key industries and agricultural science addresses a broad range of issues from reducing salinity and developing drought-resistant crops, to producing high-value molecules for industrial use.
With teaching and research expertise in these areas of study, JCU offers courses for a range of careers in aquaculture and agricultural science.
