Nauclea orientalis

(Leichhardt tree)

Description

This tall tree is usually found associated with watercourses. There are a pair of large stipules at the base of the leaf stalks or petioles. The opposite, broadly ovate leaves are large up to 23 cm long and 14 cm wide, apex is rounded; petiole about 5 cm long. The fragrant flowers are white to yellow with white style and stamens and grouped into a globular head about 3 cm wide. Fruit is brown, outside rough but lacks bristles. Flowering in spring and summer, tree near DA4.
