Orientation – learning and writing skills (Cairns)

On the final day of Orientation Week we devote a half day to giving you an introduction to the writing and learning skills you will need at JCU in your first year. These sessions are the ‘first-step’ in a program of workshops that are scheduled for the first ten Thursdays of each study period.

We strongly recommend you make time to attend two academic writing sessions for your main study areas and take advantage of getting to meet some of your first year lecturers and tutors.

Three learning skills workshops are also presented covering thinking skills and successful learning techniques and notetaking.

Each of these sessions lasts for 50 minutes with 10 minutes for change overs (just like your lectures and tutes!). For full details of these sessions please refer to your Orientation Booklet.
