Conditions of Use

Users of the GATCF facilities are bound generally by the Conditions of Use of University Computing and Communications facilities. In addition the following conditions of use apply.

Access to the facilities is a privilege not a right.

These facilities are provided for the completion of University course work or research only.

No eating, drinking or smoking within the facilities.

Activities which disturb others within these facilities are forbidden.

Only currently enrolled students or University staff are allowed in these facilities.

The University bears no responsibility for lost or damaged media, such as usb drives, used in the facilities.

Home drives are provided for currently enrolled students. They are considered temporary storage and will NOT be backed up. Backup of student files is the responsibility of that student.

All home drives will be cleared the first MONDAY after Semester Two examination period ends. This means that ALL files will cleared at that time.

Any system downtime for maintenance or closures will be posted on the Central Computing Shutdown and Outages Bulletin pages.

The first Sunday in any month is reserved for server and facility maintenance.

These facilities are closed from 24th December until the first Monday in February each year.

Failure to comply with the above conditions may involve limiting the access of an individual to the facility for a period, withholding of exam results or exclusion from the facilities. Please refer to ITR Policies for further information.
