Meet a snake up close and personal, attend a fashion shoot created by photography and fashion students, or come and try some fairy floss created by chemical engineers at James Cook University’s Open Day.
JCU’s Townsville campus will open its doors to the community this Sunday (August 26) for the annual Open Day.
The day will involve a vast range of activities and exhibitions for all ages, from photovoltaic technologies to interactive IT gaming displays and several lectures presented by JCU academics.
“We have a huge day planned,” said Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sandra Harding.
“If you’re looking at your study options, considering how to further your career or just curious about what’s happening at the uni, then JCU Open Day is for you.
“Explore our campus and find out from staff and students how JCU can open doors to a brighter future – that’s what Open Day is about.”
There will be information on the courses available at JCU, how to get into university, scholarship and fee information, and the support services available to students.
Professor Harding said visitors could find out how to combine study and overseas travel through the JCU Student Exchange Program and throughout the day.
Visitors will be able to complete an online questionnaire, which matches skills and interests with possible careers.
“This is a day when you can learn about the University, and plan your future.”
Facility tours will also be held throughout the day, to show the inside of laboratories and study rooms as well as outdoor facilities. Demonstrations and displays showcase the many courses on offer and staff will be available for any questions.
There will be plenty of information and advice about courses, support services, our magnificent library, and much more.
The Open Day will be held on Sunday August 26 from 10.00am to 2.00pm, at JCU Townsville campus, Angus Smith Drive, Douglas.
All members of the community are welcome.
