  • Arrow Energy Indigenous Scholarship Program

    The Arrow Energy Indigenous Scholarship Program will support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to gain qualifications at JCU and provide employment pathways. It comprises two scholarship types, The Arrow Energy Resource Sector Indigenous Scholarship and The Arrow Energy Indigenous Scholarship. Information Sheet

    Value: $10,000 each

  • Australian South Sea Islander Community Foundation

    Open to: students who identify as Australian South Sea Islanders as defined in the 2000 Queensland Government Recognition Statement of the Australian South Sea islander Community.

    Value: $5,000 per year (full-time students) or $2,500 per year (part-time students)

    Closing Date: Early February 2013.

  • Cannington Scholarship Program

    Open to: full-time, James Cook University undergraduate students who commenced 2nd year studies in 2012.

    Value: $10,000 per year – for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years of study – and recipients are encouraged to participate in Cannington's paid vacation work program between November and January

    Applications can be made by accessing the BHP Billiton careers website careers.bhpbilliton.com. and entering reference number 746733. The application process will close on Friday 20 July 2012 and shortlisted applicants will be required to participate in an interview.

  • Commonwealth Scholarships for Indigenous students

    Open to: Indigenous students who undertake an undergraduate course of study or a Tertiary Access Course at JCU. The Commonwealth Scholarships (CS) Program aims to assist Indigenous students have better access to and increased participation in higher education. Students need to apply to JCU directly.
    Value: In 2013 from $1,234 up to $12,067.

    Closing Date: 2013 Early Offer Round - 30 November 2012.

  • Cowan Grant (Cairns Campus)

    Open to: a student or students studying an undergraduate or postgraduate degree within the School of Marine and Tropical Biology at JCU Cairns.

    Value: The total value of the grant is for an amount of up to $8,000.

    Cowan Grant Young Endeavour Leadership Scholarship

    Open to: Students who are aged between 16 - 23 years and enrolled full-time in any program at JCU Cairns Campus.

    Value: The grant is valued at up to $5,000 and includes a berth on the Young Endeavour and additional travel expenses.

    Closing Date: Applications for the 2013 Scholarship will be called for towards the end of 2012. Applications available through the JCU Professional College.

  • David Hastings Bursary

    Open to: students with a physical disability or other impairment who are full-time undergraduate students whose normal domicile is to the North of the 22nd degree of South latitude in the State of Queensland (above a line from St. Lawrence through Muttaburra)

  • Eric Booth Memorial Grants in Chemistry

    Open to: students currently enrolled full-time or part-time at the University; and undertaking second, third or honours year subjects in chemistry, and by students undertaking postgraduate studies in chemistry.

  • Faculty of Science & Engineering Entry Bursaries

    Open to: first year students of a Bachelors program in the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

    Value: 10 bursaries of $2,000 each.

  • Faculty of Science & Engineering Indigenous Student Entry Bursaries

    Open to: First year full-time domestic Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students of Faculty of Science & Engineering who have received an Overall Position (OP) between 1 and 8 or its equivalent from other Australian States.

    Value: a standard laptop computer.

  • George Roberts CBE Bursary

    Open to: students who have been residents at George Roberts Hall for at least one full academic year, and who have achieved (at least) a credit average in their first year undergraduate subjects.

    Value: payment towards full board accommodation expenses for one academic year at George Roberts Hall.

  • Global Voices

    Global Voices is now calling for applications to be part of its funded youth delegations to the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, as well as its Nairobi Study Tour on Sustainable Development.

    Open to: Students aged between 18 and 30.

    Value: Cost of all flights, accommodation, visas, transfers, insurance, registration fees and most meals.

  • Hugh Alexander Grierson Trust Bursary

    Open to: full-time domestic Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students of the University.

    Value: $5,000 in money, books, equipment or payment for residential accommodation.

    JCU Access Scholarships and JCU Access Bursaries

    Open to: full-time students who are in their first year of study.

    Value: $5,000 or $1,500 for one year.

    JCU Support Grants

    Open to: full-time students who are in their second year of study.

  • Joyce and George Vaughan Bequest Scholarship [PG]

    Open to: domestic students enrolled in a MSc (Research) or a PhD particularly in an area related to Marine Biology. Preference will be given to Aborigines from Thursday Is or the Torres Strait Islands.Value:$8,000 per year for 2 years.

  • Julia Cooper Memorial Wildlife Research Bursary

    Open to: honours or masters students undertaking research in the fields of terrestrial or marine ecology with a particular relevance to North Queensland.

  • Kym Dixon Memorial Bursary

    Open to: full-time level 3 students enrolled in a Bachelor of Marine Science whose main focus is reef ecology.

    Value: $1,500 for one year.

    Closing Date: NOT currently offered.

  • Lynn Kratcha Memorial Rural Bursary

    Open to: students who are enrolled full-time in the second year of MBBS, demonstrate an internest in rural medicine and are able to undertake an international rural elective.

    Closing Date: End of Week 1 in Study Period 2 each year.

  • Marine Fish Habitat Scholarships

    Open to: Honours research projects based on fisheries links with marine fish habitats and their management needs.

    Value: Scholarships for 2013 are to be advised.

  • Port of Townsville Limited Scholarship

    Open to: students who have been ordinarily resident within a local government area forming part of the Mount Isa - Townsville Economic Zone (MITEZ) and are enrolled (or will be enrolled)full-time in an undergraduate degree in a discipline likely to contribute to improved management in the mining, metallurgical or maritime transport and logistics industries in north or northwest Queensland.

    Value: $5,000 for one year.

  • Pro-Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship in Science & Engineering

    Open to: full-time students of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and who have received an Overall Position (OP) of 1 or its equivalent from other Australian states.

    Value: $10,000.

  • School of Marine & Tropical Biology Entry Bursary

    Open to: school leavers who enrol in full-time study in the School of Marine and Tropical Biology. The bursary will be offered in the first year of the course only.

  • Supporting Women Scholarships

    Open to: Supporting Women Scholarships is a Queensland Government initiative that opens doors for women to undertake study in specific areas.

    Value: Up to $20,000 over four years.
