Advanced standing (credit for previous study)
JCU has flexible advanced standing arrangements with other universities and vocational education providers such as TAFE Queensland. If you have completed a degree, diploma or university subjects, you may be entitled to advanced standing.
International Baccalaureate
International Baccalaureate (IB) students who have achieved a grade of 6 or 7 for IB subjects taken at the Higher Level (HL) in their final year, may be offered advanced standing of up to 6 credit points towards subjects in courses offered by:

Faculty of Arts, Education and Social Sciences for specific or elective subjects depending on the IB subjects completed;

Faculty of Law, Business and Creative Arts for first year elective subjects within our degree programs;

Faculty of Medicine, Health and Molecular Sciences: IB Chemistry – credit will be granted for CH1001; and IB Biology – credit will be granted for BM1000 (and equivalent codes) and PP1201;

Faculty of Science and Engineering for first year elective subjects within our degree programs.
The advanced standing may be granted upon application, either for a specific subject(s) or for elective subjects, depending on the particular IB subject(s) studied.
